General information

Please reach us at admin@fortamherst.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Fort Amherst is open daily from 08:00 - 16:00.  Tours will be running from 10:00 - 20:00 (gates close at 22:00)

Please arrive a minimum of 15 minutes prior to your ticket entry time as we cannot guarantee availability on a tour if you are late.

Entrance for Clown Chaos is our standard entrance gate and you will be met outside the Cannon Cafe.

Entrance for Face Your Fears will be at our lower entrance on Barrier Road.

Chatham Bus station is a 5 minute walk away and Chatham Train Station is a 10 minute walk away.


We would encourage you to use public transport where possible.


Clown Chaos is recommended for children aged 5 - 10 years.  Under 3s go free however will not be permitted to get involved in the activities.  There must be a minimum of one adult per six children for this event.


Face Your Fears is a 12A event (18:00 - 20:00).  If you feel that your child will manage the environment then this is the adults responsibility.  There must be a minimum of one adult per six teenagers for this event.


After 20:00 this will become Halloween Horrors Face Your Fears 18+ experience with more immersive experiences and actors will be able to touch you!  ID will be required for entrance to this event.  No ID?  No Entry.


No refunds will be given for any person not completing the tour.


All children no matter the event must be accompanied by a full paying adult.


Actors are permitted to stroke you or hold your hand during the Face Your Fears before 20:00.

 

After 20:00, at our Halloween Horrors event, we will touch you and language will become more extreme!  


Guests may NOT touch the actors, you will be removed and no refund given.


We are only able to offer parking for blue badge holders for our Halloween events on a first come first served basis.  You must still 


Additional parking is available adjacent to the Command House in Chatham.  At the weekend guests can also use Gun Wharf (Council Offices) opposite the Fort.


Sure!  Fancy dress can really add to the event however....... No masks, hoods or anything that obscures your face.  Also no imitation weapons of any sort.

Any prohibited items will be confiscated and not returned.


Unfortunately not on this occasion!  They are permitted on upper site and in the Cannon Cafe during the day before 4pm, however after that we recommend they stay at home.


Filming inside the event is prohibited.  Filming in public areas is permitted.

The management are not responsible for any items that are confiscated and we cannot guarantee their return.


No external food or drink is permitted for this event.  We do have catering options available at reasonable prices.


Only the Cannon Cafe is able to accept cash onsite.  All other facilities require you to pay by card/ contactless.


We take the safety of all our guests extremely seriously. If you’re coming to our Halloween events, please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to pass through our security checks.


Our security team are in place for your own safety, and we ask you fully cooperate with all checks. All bags will be searched on entry, and further security checks will be conducted at random.


Our Bag Policy

We would recommend you not bring in a bag at all, however if you do, please follow the steps below: 

  • We have a no unsealed liquids policy; this includes any perfume/aftershaves/aerosols.
  • Please finish any ‘opened’ drinks before you enter the park during the security checks. If you would like to keep any containers or bottles, please make sure these are empty before you enter.
  • Sealed plastic bottles of soft drink up to 500ml are permitted on site.
  • Do not bring alcohol on site – this will be removed.
  • You are unable to bring food on site. Please alert us in advance if you must bring your own food for medical reasons/specific dietary requirements – admin@fortamherst.com
  • We have a strict no drug policy, this includes drug paraphernalia.  You will be removed from the event and reported to Kent Police
  • Take all items out of your pockets if you are required.


Please Note: There will be no receipts issued for any confiscated/surrendered items and they will not be available to collect after the event.

  • Fireworks, Flares or Chinese Lanterns

  • Unauthorised professional film or video equipment


Please Note: There will be no receipts issued for any confiscated/surrendered items and they will not be available to collect after the event.


Our attractions feature flashing lights, strobes and special effects. There is also a high level of smoke effects in some of the attraction. If you have any conditions that may be affected by these factors, we strongly advise against visiting. 


If you are visiting Clown Chaos this is a perfectly safe environment so we can wait to see you.

Face Your Fears is not recommended for those who are pregnant.
